Filters & Paging

Narrow down the rows of a table with filter chips, and page through large tables.

The filter bar sits above the data grid whenever a table is open in the Data view. Filters run on the server, so they work on tables of any size.

The filter bar

Each filter is a chip that reads column operator value, for example status = paid.

  • Click + Filter, or press ⌘F while a table tab is focused, to add a filter. Its editor opens right away.
  • Click a chip to edit it.
  • Click the × on a chip to remove it.
  • Disabled filters stay in the bar, dimmed, so you can turn them back on later.

In a query tab, ⌘F opens Find in the SQL editor instead.

Edit a filter

The filter editor is a small popover:

  1. Choose a column.
  2. Choose an operator.
  3. Type the Value.
  4. Click Apply, or press ↩.

Uncheck Enabled to keep the filter but stop applying it. Click Remove to delete it.

Operators

OperatorMatches rows where the column…
=equals the value
<>doesn't equal the value
<is less than the value
>is greater than the value
<=is less than or equal to the value
>=is greater than or equal to the value
LIKEmatches the pattern, e.g. %@gmail.com
NOT LIKEdoesn't match the pattern
IS NULLis NULL (no value needed)
IS NOT NULLisn't NULL (no value needed)
INequals any of the values, separated by commas, e.g. paid, refunded

Values are always sent as quoted text, and the server converts them to the column's type. That means 42 works for a number column and 2024-01-31 works for a date column.

Combining filters

All enabled filters are combined with AND: a row must match every one of them.

For example, status = paid and total > 100 together show only paid orders over 100.

Filters can't be combined with OR, and you can't type a raw WHERE clause. For those, write a query in a query tab.

Row summary

The right side of the filter bar shows which rows you're seeing, how many there are in total and how long the query took, for example:

1–300 of ~48,000 rows · 12 ms

A ~ means the total is an estimate. On PostgreSQL, Mantidb uses the table's statistics instead of counting when a table has more than 100,000 rows, so large tables open quickly.

Use the ‹ and › buttons next to the summary to move to the previous or next page.

Page size

Each page holds 300 rows by default. To change it:

  1. Open Mantidb ▸ Settings… (⌘,).
  2. Choose Editor & Grid.
  3. Set Grid page size, anywhere from 10 to 10,000.

The new size applies the next time you change page or reload the table.

Filters and export

Filters, sort order and hidden columns carry over when you export from a table tab with File ▸ Export… (⇧⌘E), so you can export exactly what you see. See Import & Export.

Filters are also saved with the tab and come back when you reopen the connection.
