Overview
Mantidb is a native database client for macOS and iOS, built to browse, edit and query your databases without leaving the keyboard.
Mantidb is a native Apple database tool with a clean, focused interface. You can work with several databases at the same time — PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, SQLite, Microsoft SQL Server, Redis and MongoDB — each in its own window, with the same grid, editor and shortcuts.
Supported databases
When you create a connection, you choose one of these drivers:
| Driver | Default port | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| PostgreSQL | 5432 | Also used for PostgreSQL-compatible engines (see below). |
| MySQL / MariaDB | 3306 | One driver for both; the server version tells them apart. |
| SQLite | — | Opens a database file on your Mac. |
| SQL Server | 1433 | SQL Server 2012+ and Azure SQL, with SQL authentication. |
| Redis | 6379 | Opens a key browser. Also works with Valkey, KeyDB and Dragonfly. |
| MongoDB | 27017 | MongoDB 3.6+. Opens a document browser. |
PostgreSQL-compatible engines
Choose PostgreSQL for these. Mantidb detects them when it connects and adapts its queries:
- CockroachDB — detected from
version(). Tables without a primary key are edited through the hiddenrowidcolumn. - Amazon Redshift — detected from
version(). Data can be browsed and edited, but the table structure is read-only. - Neon and Supabase — detected from the host name (
*.neon.tech,*.supabase.co).
The detected engine appears in the connection card at the top of the sidebar, for example CockroachDB v24.3.1 or PostgreSQL 16.4 · Neon.

Download and install
macOS
- Requires macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later.
- Universal app: runs natively on Apple silicon and Intel Macs.
- Mantidb ships as a signed
.dmg. Open it and drag Mantidb to Applications.
Mantidb runs outside the App Sandbox so it can open any database socket and run your own
pg_dumpandmysqldumpfor backups.
iOS
The Mantidb app for iPhone and iPad requires iOS 17 or later. See iOS for what it can do.
Where your data lives
Mantidb keeps its files in ~/Library/Application Support/Mantidb/:
connections.json— your connections and groups. Passwords are never stored here.History/— every query you run, as plain.sqlfiles per connection and day.Favorite/— your saved queries, as.sqlfiles you can edit with any tool.Sessions/— the tabs to restore when you reopen a connection.
Database passwords, SSH passwords and passphrases, AI API keys and MCP tokens are stored only in the macOS Keychain.
